Hosted MCP runtime where your agent publishes its own tools by tool call and keeps working.

dev.mcphost/mcphost is a hosted Model Context Protocol (MCP) runtime. It provides a streamable-HTTP MCP server where an agent acts as the operator: sign up via one unauthenticated tool call, receive a tenant key, then publish, list, inspect, and remove tools within its namespace. There is no web page; administration uses admin.* tools.

🛠️ Key Features

  • Streamable-HTTP MCP server (mcphost serve)
  • Stateless per the 2026-07-28 specification
  • One unauthenticated tool call for tenant signup
  • Tenant key–based tool namespace ownership
  • Tool administration and metering via admin.* tools
  • Built-in echo kind and Kind trait

🚀 Use Cases

  • Hosting an MCP endpoint with tenant-scoped tool publishing
  • Agent-driven control of tool lifecycle (publish/list/inspect/remove)
  • Running an echo kind for harness/testing needs
  • Administering tenants and reading metering

⚡ Developer Benefits

  • Central MCP control plane on a single streamable-HTTP endpoint
  • Tenant key model for namespaced tool management
  • Supports harness integration via a built-in echo kind
  • Includes the Kind trait for tool execution kinds

⚠️ Limitations

  • Web UI is not provided (“no web page”)
  • Tool execution kinds (e.g., REST wrappers, code) are separate PRDs, not part of this endpoint deliverable
