Search, read and act on Apple Calendar — ranges, free-time lookup, writes off by default

io.github.mgcrea/mcp-apple-calendar (Model Context Protocol)

This MCP server provides access to macOS Apple Calendar. It supports searching and reading calendar data by querying a local SQLite index, and it can perform write actions using Apple Events. It is unofficial and reads the Calendar store already present on the Mac.

🛠️ Key Features

  • Reads via an index lane: read-only SQLite over Calendar.sqlitedb
  • Writes via an Apple Events lane: writes only
  • Notes on design: one lane for reads, one lane for writes
  • Unofficial; not affiliated with Apple

🚀 Use Cases

  • Search and read calendar entries from the local Calendar store
  • Look up free time
  • Write calendar updates through Apple Events

⚡ Developer Benefits

  • Provides a single read path through the SQLite index
  • Separates concerns into distinct read-only and write-only lanes
  • Package structure indicates no jxa/read.ts and a test asserts it will not be added

⚠️ Limitations

  • Read queries are implemented as ±90-day ranges over the indexed data (described as not feasible in the same way as Notes)
  • Writes are not implemented via JXA/read; reads and writes follow separate lanes
